Congress President Rahul Gandhi has embarked on the Bharat Jodo Yatra in what he terms as the process to unify India.
He is now in the last leg of his Yatra visiting Jammu and Kashmir. But some fundamental questions need to be asked from Congress party. When in power, it had jailed the then “Prime Minister” of J&K and very popular leader Sheikh Abdullah for 11 years.
Congress diluted J&K autonomy
Congress in fact in the year 1953 had Sheikh Abdullah, who was considered to be a good friend of the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, put behind bars in connection with the infamous ‘Kashmir conspiracy case’.
It was not BJP which diluted Jammu and Kashmir autonomy but Congress party.
J&K had its own Prime Minister and Sadr-e-Riyasat until 1965, when the J&K Constitution was amended (Sixth Constitution of J&K Amendment Act, 1965) by the then Congress government, which replaced the two positions with Chief Minister and Governor respectively. Will Rahul Gandhi answer these questions?
Congress rigged the 1987 elections
As a matter of great pain,
Kashmir’s ugly and painful turning point was the rigged assembly election of 1987 when Farooq Abdullah was the Chief Minister of the (then) state and Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister.
This laid foundation of terror, Bloodbath and violence which is continuing since more than 3 decades now.
Will Rahul Gandhi tender apology over it or use ostrich approach to hide behind falsehood?
History knows Mr. Rahul Gandhi that order to ensure that Farooq Abdullah returned as Chief Minister with comfortable majority, the (then) state machinery had manoeuvred to secure the defeat of Muslim United Front (MUF) candidates, while the Centre remained a mute spectator because of the Rajiv- Farooq Accord and a tactical understanding between the National Conference and Congress.
Sajad Lone voiced the question
Even Sajad Lone who once was separatist and now mainstream leader had this to say few time back.
If 1987 would not have happened, just tell me would guns have made an entry into this region. Dacoits of 1987 filled graveyards here,” said Lone, during a function here during which he took oath as the party president after the recent party elections.
“Everybody is questioned here in current times, even someone who may have hosted a militant for a lunch way back in 1989 is detained. Why aren’t these dacoits of 1987 questioned,” said Lone.
Jammu and Kashmir masses and sane voices know and are aware of rights in democracy and are not against the Bharat Jodo Yatra of Rahul Gandhi coming to Jammu and Kashmir but they want answer of these burning questions from Rahul Gandhi.
Historical blunders of the Congress in J&K
As historical blunders of Congress have converted Jammu and Kashmir into pool of blood.
The people of Jammu and Kashmir will never forgive the Congress and its proxies for decades of terrorism, killing of innocents, and uncertainties prevailing in the UT. The man behind this ambivalence is his (Rahul’s) forefather Jawahar Lal Nehru who took the issue unnecessarily to United Nations and made Jammu and Kashmir suffer a long night because of his wrong policies.
The reasons that made Ghulam Nabi Azad quit the Congress
Congress could not carry even its trusted foot soldiers within its fold.
After putting in 35 long years in Congress, Mufti Mohamad Syed had stated that the national outlook of the party is too vast to accommodate the regional aspirations. At 73, when Azad left the Congress in 2022, he said the party – now in control of the fourth generation, has declined to a level that there is no room for repairs. In both the exits, however, the involvement of the “right-wing” was claimed.
We will continue to raise many genuine questions to Rahul Gandhi as he is in Jammu and Kashmir during his Bharat jodo yatra.
