Dr. Mittal Patel is a famous Mathematics expert, educationist and motivational speaker of Western India state of Gujarat and also an administrator of many schools in the state. To her credit she has focused on improving the tough subject mathematics skills in pupils. She is PHD in electromagnetic and an expert in Vedic Mathematics. She also works for skill development of the youth and is considered among top experts of mathematics in the country. In an exclusive interview with the Heaven Mail, Mittal Patel talks to Rameez Makhdoomi. Tell us a bit about yourself? Having born in 1981 In Jamnagar Gujarat, I had to be fighter with hard circumstances and aptly took on my shoulders to envisage that I myself and my siblings get a quality education. There was love of academics imbibed in me and vision to carve a niche of motivation for others. A bit about your academic life ? I was a very bright student right from Nursery to upper classes getting very good marks , ranging from 100 percent but as soon as I shifted to Navodaya Vidyalaya I became dull. It was because I had studied in Gujrati Medium but in Navodaya Vidyalayas it was English medium. Slowly and steadily I took right steps and through hardwork and dedication excelled in English medium too. How did your transition of love towards mathematics especially vedic mathematics developed? I suddenly got during student life hold of amazing book on vedic mathematics, and loved the subject. I thought to make a career on it , one of my good expert friend Prafula Behan guided me in it, I met her through my Guru Prakash ji. I then did much workshops and seminars on vedic mathematics and after learning taught it to other for free for many years . My own study at prestigious institution was halted due to lack of finance. Tell us further on your journey? I did my first workshop on Vedic mathematics at Gaytri Mandir. found majority of students very poor in Math In Gujarat. I organised workshops and booster camps for the weak students and they excelled. Through my hard work more than ten thousand students have benefitted. What was your modus operandi? I made students especially weak one to go through rigorous practices and also get useful input from holy scriptures like Vedas especially Lelawati, and myself learnt that our holy scriptures are full of quality research on mathematics. I also had got one book from Narayan Rao Bhandari which helped me to further excell in Vedic mathematics. I would also like to say that through focus we can end the fear of mathematics in young students. What should be the main objective of learning method in our part of the world? The basic foundation of learning should be the use of local language as mother tongue is the first step towards ensuring that children learn things swiftly. Unfortunately in our part of the world we look down upon native or mother language which is harmful attitude .Even UNESCO has suggested using of mother tongue in the study medium. Your message? My message is be always fighter and follow the path of honesty and dedication. The shortcuts or path of dishonesty gives you benefits for short time but dishonor and pain for entire life , so always speak truth.
