In an exclusive interview with the Heaven Mail, SREEKALA P VIJAYAN talks to RAMEEZ Makhdoomi.
A bit about your early days ?
My roots in the field of poetry was from my childhood when my teacher compelled me to write a poem and I won first place in the competition. A memorable day and the moment when I realised that a young poetess is there inside me.
How was academic life like ?
My education was in Kerala and most of them in the Well known Universities. I haven’t had any record of being beaten up for a bad score . My parents and teachers were so supportive and encouraging.
My first inspiration is my father, who is a hardworker and a follower of truth. He has made us the worthy ones by giving values at apt ages. I may not be able to point one or two people as my inspiration as I learn and grab many qualities which I see in the other individuals. So most of them are a true inspiration to me.
Your writing journey ?
My writings during school days, confined into only books and pen. When I came back to the poetry field after a long gap, I realised that ,some instinct talents will not go away from us. My readers have supported me by reading and criticising and spending their valuable time encouraging me. It’s a continuous journey where I am looking forward to publishing my fifth book, which is going to be a fiction, a psychological thriller. My four poetry book has already got their reach among the readers.
What are your current assignments?
My fifth book , few anthologies which I am an editor and compiler. Translation work of a Malayalam book into English.
Your favourite genres to write?
Poetry ,fiction and two liners on themes related to life are my favorite genres to write.
How do you see young writers of India?
Most promising, with the achievement goal set ,they have their own styles which distinguishes their work. If they continue contributing more and read more then they are going to create history.
Your message ?
Every single thought that comes out of a writer’s pen has its own uniqueness, enjoy and cherish those reads and propogate the world of poetry and literature to a vast extent.
Lastly, your primary focus?
I am a part of many literary organisations in Bangalore and even in few Facebook platforms. Irrespective of the platforms, I always work to bring more young authors into the stream as it is like developing the world of literature and the world of reading. It is obvious that they need a support and a helping hand to move ahead. I had already published an anthology by children. I am working on more such projects with students of different age levels. I am still a learner and my each work and interactions with others is a learning for me. I cherish that and accomodate it as experiences in the book of life. My time and energy will be always dedicated to the budding readers and authors of tender age. I consider it as my duty as a teacher.
