The explosives were detected by forces in Tulibal area of Sopore this morning during a routine sanitization of the Sopore Kupwara bypass road.
The traffic and the movement of people were immediately halted after the IED was detected, they said.
The area was also cordoned by the forces.
Soon a bomb disposal squad was called and they defused the IED, a security official said.
