The Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have busted a gang of thieves and seized stolen property worth lakhs of rupees from their possession.

A police in a statement said that in the recent past, incidents of burglary and vehicle theft were reported within the jurisdiction of Police Station Kunzer following which Case FIR numbers 40/2022, 72/2022, 76/2022, 87/2022, 89/2022 & 102/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered & investigation was initiated.

“During investigation of these cases, strenuous efforts were put forth by the investigating officers by using modern techniques & human resources, names of some suspects surfaced which includes one namely Abdul Majeed Lone son of Ghulam Ahmad Lone resident of Checkthan Chanpora Tangmarg, a well-known burglar of Tangmarg area. In order to evade his arrest, the said accused person was hiding at different locations,” said the spokesman.
“On 06/11/2022, information regarding movement of the said suspected person in village Gulabdaji area was received by Police Station Kunzer,” he said, adding that acting swiftly, the accused person was arrested by police party of Police Station Kunzer from the area.
“During questioning, the accused person confessed that he along with another person identified as Basharat Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat resident of Gund Hassi Bhat Srinagar are involved in these burglary and theft incidents, who was subsequently arrested,” said the spokesman.
