Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing new levels of progress and prosperity with each passing day. In this regard, if Jammu and Kashmir region gets to host a few sessions of the G20 Summit next year, it can translate into huge development and a significant image booster for the region.
It would be not a small feat for Jammu and Kashmir, as G20 importance is huge internationally. If Jammu and Kashmir is able to host a few sessions of this mega global event, this will majorly help in shunning the negative image of violence for the region. The move will showcase J&K as a perfect place in India for conducting global events.
J&K best location for G20 Summit Events: CS
G20 or Group of Twenty is an intergovernmental forum comprising 19 countries and the European Union (EU). It works to address major issues related to the global economy, such as international financial stability, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development.
In this regard, Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta said on Saturday that Jammu and Kashmir could be the best location for hosting the G20 Summit events. He said the visiting delegates would leave with mesmerising experiences which they would cherish for long.
Mehta made these remarks during a meeting with a central delegation regarding the G20 Summit.
He affirmed that J&K has breathtaking locations and the climate is also highly conducive for holding such events, said the Chief Secretary. He mentioned that the infrastructure had also been upgraded to a large extent over the past few years.
Delegates Will Experience Spectacular J&K
He said best possible arrangements would be put in place and the delegates would find an opportunity to experience the rich cultural diversity of J&K. He also took stock of other arrangements like hotel accommodation, protocol, city sprucing, holding of cultural events, transport, internet connectivity, medical facilities, arrangements at airports, training of staff and other branding strategies.
It is worth mentioning here that 2023 G20 Delhi summit is the upcoming eighteenth meeting of Group of Twenty (G20), a summit scheduled to take place in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi in 2023.India’s presidency will begin on 1 December 2022, leading up to the summit in the fourth quarter of 2023. The presidency handover ceremony was held as an special event, in which the G20 Presidency gavel was transferred from Indonesian President Joko Widodo to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the close of the Bali summit.
Earlier in June this year it was revealed that Jammu and Kashmir will host the 2023 meetings of the G20, an influential group of the world’s major economies. The J&K government has set up a five-member high-level committee for overall coordination of G20 meetings to be held in the Union Territory.
With India becoming President, a series of meetings at various levels and in different parts of the country will be planned. The union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh will also be the venue for some of the meetings.
There will be important meetings at major historical and cultural centers like Ajanta-Ellora and Hampi. The summit is likely to take place in Delhi in September 2023.
