MNS warns Bollywood against hiring Pakistani actors. A timeline of ban against Pak artistes

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS)’s cinema wing has issued an open threat to Bollywood against hiring Pakistani artistes. They have warned them not to hire actors from the neighbouring country, stating that filmmakers who have hired them for dramas or films will face consequences. The new announcement comes 6 years after a ban was announced on Pakistani actors following an attack by militants in Kashmir that killed 19 Indian soldiers.
The tweet reads, “It has come to hear that few Bollywood filmmakers have started re-recruiting Pakistani artists. This low mentality keeps arising time by time hence we are giving clear hint that not only in Mumbai but anywhere in India for any drama/film if Pakistani talents will be seen then related makers will have to face consequences.”
Back in 2016, following the militant attack in Kashmir, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association said it too was on war footing, stating that Pakistan actors and technicians in Bollywood and other cinema hubs in India would be banned until normalcy returns. At that time, as per reports, TP Aggarwal, the organisation’s president had gone further to say that Pakistanis would be banned from the Indian cinematic industry for ever.
During that time, Pakistan actor Fawad Khan, perhaps the most famous face from the country was the biggest star to get booted from the country.

In 2019, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) announced a ban on Pakistani actors and artistes in India in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack which saw the loss of lives of 40 jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

“All Indian Cine Workers Association strongly condemns brutal terrorist attack on our soldiers at Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir. Our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. AICWA stands with a nation in confronting such terror and inhumanity. We’re officially announcing a total ban on Pakistani Actors and Artists working in Film Industry. Still, if any organization insist on working with Pakistani Artists will be banned by AICWA and strong action will be taken against them. The nation comes first, we stand with our nation,” the statement read.
