Delhi man chops live-in partner’s body into 35 pieces, scatters it in jungle over 18 days

In a horrifying incident of murder in the country’s national capital, a man allegedly strangled his live-in partner and chopped her body into 35 pieces before dumping her in Delhi ‘s Mehrauli forest over a period of 18 days, police sources said.

According to them, the murderer would step out every day at around 2 am to dump the body parts.

The accused has been identified as Aftab Ameen Poonawalla who killed the woman, Shraddha on May 18 after they had a fight, he kept the pieces of her body in a fridge that he bought post the incident, sources told news agency.

Aftab has been arrested by the police and is being interrogated.

26-year-old Shraddha worked at the call centre for a multinational company in Mumbai where she met Poonawalla. The two started dating and moved in together. After her family did not approve of their relationship, the couple eloped and came to Delhi. They started living in a flat in Mehrauli. As per sources, the girl had been pestering Poonawalla to marry her.

On November 8, her father Vikas Madaan came to Delhi to check on his daughter, after she had stopped receiving the family’s calls. When he reached the flat, it was locked after which he approached the Mehrauli Police and filed a complaint alleging kidnapping.

It was found that during the ongoing quarrel Shraddha was shouting, Aftab to muffle her voice pressed her face due to which she choked to death.

On the basis of the victim’s father’s complaint, police arrested Poonawalla on Saturday. During the investigation, he revealed that the two fought frequently as Shraddha wanted to marry him, police sources said.

The police have filed a case of murder and are searching for the remaining parts of Shraddha’s body.
