Shadab Khan on his knees, breaks down in tears after Pakistan's shock loss to Zimbabwe,

If the loss to India in their opening game of the T20 World Cup wasn’t enough, Pakistan were subjected to another heartbreaking loss in a span of three days as they went down against Zimbabwe in Perth on Thursday, October 27. And at the centre of this loss was a complete batting failure as the last year’s semi-finalists failed to chase down 131 runs and fell agonisingly short by just one run.

It was not only disappointing for fans but also the players as Pakistan now need a miracle to qualify for the semi-finals. Pakistan not only need to win their remaining games but also have to hope that a few other results go their way as well. Pakistan vice-captain and all-rounder Shadab Khan broke down in tears as he was seen on his haunches, visibly distraught after the loss.

Shadab put in all the efforts with the ball but his wicket proved to be the turning point in the match as from 88/3, his side went to score just 41 runs and lose five wickets in the next 39 balls. The video has gone viral on social media with several fans saying that sport can be cruel sometimes.

Shadab and Masood had stitched a 52-run stand and it looked like the duo will take their side to victory, however, one over from star Zimbabwean player Sikandar Raza turned the tide in Craig Ervine-led side’s favour. Raza dismissed Shadab and out of form Haider Ali in consecutive deliveries before pegging Pakistan further back with Masood’s wicket in his next over.

Mohammad Nawaz and Mohammad Wasim Jr then had almost taken Pakistan to victory as they brought the equation from 37 needed off 29 balls down to 4 required four, however, another dramatic final over saw them finish on the wrong side of the result. After playing a dot ball, Nawaz in order to smash over bowler Brad Evans’ head was caught out at mid-off as they now needed 3 off 1. Shaheen Afridi played the shot towards mid-on but was late on return as Zimbabwe won by one run.
