Fast track recruitment is meant to be completed with a period of one year only. The past regimes took a decade to complete one recruitment process. Nepotism and corruption had left the educated and aspirational youth in the state of dejection and depression.

But after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A, these aspirational youth looked forward for the transparency in the recruitment process. Though the common masses were seen disappointed with the August 5, 2019 events, but it was only the educated youth who were internally happy with the decision.

Fast Track, Transparent Recruitment

Soon after the abrogation, the Prime Minister in his address to the nation had said that all vacant posts will be filled with in few months. The Governor of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir Shri S P Malik also announced that more than 50,000 would be filled under accelerated recruitment drive.

The LG administration had transferred posts to Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board. The board under fast track recruitment drive advertised more than 20,000 posts. The board remained firm in keeping the promise of transparency in the examination. The board completed some recruitment processes in a fair way. However, the completion get delayed due to Pandemic but the transparency in some examinations were reflected in the selection processes.

Winning The Lost Game

People’s faith on the board doubled when transparency in the recruitment processes were shown. The transparency was shown in few small examinations and two big examination notifications. The posts which were advertised under Notification No 02 for 1889 Panchayat Accounts Assistants posts of 2020 and 06 of 2020 for 8575 class iv posts. The recruitment under notification no 02 of 2020 for 1889 posts was completed on time. But recruitment under notification no 06 of 2020 got delayed and finally got completed in October this year. In the two examinations more than 4 lakh candidates appeared and tried their lucks. However, each one could not get selected but no one was down casted with the recruitment processes. In both the examinations from advertisements of posts to the selection process the board did everything in a very fair way.

Examinations Scrapped

The Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board after conducting the completing two major examinations conducted the Jammu and Kashmir Police Sub Inspector examinations. After conducting the examinations merit list was issued. The list was alleged of malpractices and irregularities.

After some irregularities were found in the said examination the LG administration cancelled the examination first. The recruitment was scrapped. With the scrapping of the said examination the Financial Accounts Assistant recruitment process whose selection list was at the final touch came under scanner.

The probe in the examinations revealed that like Police Sub inspector examinations, many irregularities and malpractices were found in the finance accounts assistant examination also. After conducting the probe for more than two months, the LG Administration finally scrapped this recruitment too. However, for a month the meritorious students whose document verification was completed protested against the cancellation of examinations prior to scrapping. But all their hard work finally yielded no result.

It is highly unfortunate that the recruitment board is on front foot to deceive, cheat and loot the poor aspirants. The looters are present within the board and their touts are roaming outside the offices. Their intention is to deceive and cheat. The UT Administration must protect the youth from such fraudsters and cheaters within the system, and from their touts

The aspirants were not against any probe. One of the protestor Shahid Ah in conversation with the Daily Heaven Mail said that we have lost our credibility. We worked hard and we deserve to get selected. If any undeserving or irregularity was found, they should book the culprits under relevant sections of law. But with the scrapping of whole recruitment process, we are seen with doubts. For a month I was congratulated for my achievement and after a month I was teased and trolled. I belong to a humble background and have not too good source of income. With my selection in the list my parents had got relaxed and they had somehow managed to get off from the burden of my unemployment. But my fate was not in my favour. The recruitment got scrapped and I restored to my old state of being unemployed, he said.

Keep The Faith Of The Youth

The already suffering Jammu and Kashmir educated youth are getting blow due to malpractices in the recruitment process. The depression in the youth is visible because the unemployment is rising day by day. Kashmir does not have any industrial or manufacturing sector. There are less chances that our educated may opt for private job. Most prefer government job. The eduacted youth with the sole aim to get a government job works hard and hopes for the good harvest.

It is highly unfortunate that the recruitment board is on front foot to deceive, cheat and loot the poor aspirants. The looters are present within the board and their touts are roaming outside the offices. Their intention is to deceive and cheat. The UT Administration must protect the youth from such fraudsters and cheaters within the system, and from their touts.

At a time when the youth of Jammu and Kashmir needs strong hand holding, they are been cheated. When connect and contact to the youth of Kashmir should be maximised and steps of winning over minds and hearts should be initiated, this hard work of the youth is devalued and downgraded. There should be someone who will provide a platform and an opportunity to the Kashmiri youth so that this valuable treasure is kept on the right path and can be saved from drug addiction and joining militant groups.
