Construction work on Srinagar ring road project is in full swing as government has asked the construction agency to complete the project in the stipulated time. This ring road project is a dream project for many reasons as it will help reducing the traffic flow in and around the city to a large extent thus helping in de-congesting the city. Traffic police recently in a report said that almost thirty thousand vehicles enter the city from different areas of the valley every day. This uncontrolled flow of traffic creates lots of problems in the city for commuters as well as for the transporters.
During the winter season we witness heavy traffic jams near Parimpora, Hyderpora, Sanat nagar and other crossings along by-pass and people have to face a lot of inconvenience commuting on these stretches. Businessmen, Students, laborers and even patients get a very tough time because of these frequent traffic Jams.
In the midst of all this, Jammu and Kashmir government has taken a very people-friendly step by starting the construction work on the twenty eight kilometer ring road as this road will keep Srinagar city and its outskirts free from heavy traffic flow. Government has already started the process of decongesting the city and many passenger vehicles, which un-authorizedly used to enter the city have been barred from entering the city during day hours. With the construction of the Srinagar ring road, Heavy vehicles will barely enter the city premises and traffic that needs to ply from south Kashmir to north Kashmir and vice e versa will not be touching the city limits thus relieving the Srinagar by-pass of the extra traffic burden. This will regulate the overall traffic mechanism in city and hence it can be called a dream project in Kashmir.
