ZOON visits Govt Model Higher Secondary Institute Mirgund Baramulla
SRINAGAR, September 16:
ZOON made a visit to a Govt Model Higher Secondary Institute in Mirgund, Baramulla on Friday.
We are very grateful to Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr Sehrish Asgar for giving us the opportunity to conduct the program in the district Baramulla. We received a lot of love from the students of Baramulla as well.
The students from class 9th to 12th had a fun interaction with the team of ZOON. They talked about various topics starting from mental health, menstrual hygiene and career options.
Many young girls drop out of school once they hit puberty, thus, depriving themselves of the right to education.
Many suffer from illnesses and diseases on account of not having access to hygienic products. It was shocking to learn that substitutes for sanitary pads include paper and cloth among the uninitiated womenfolk. All of this is due to a lack of awareness, availability and higher cost of hygienic products, ,ZOON said in a press statement issued to Sachnews.
ZOON makes sure that they impart basic knowledge about topics like these to the marginalized sections of society. The kids shared their personal problems with us and played a lot of games and towards the end, we distributed some small hygiene kits among them.
